Our Process
- Farm-To-Table: What Is This and How Does This Help?
- The food that goes to your table is directly from the farm! We shop locally in farmers markets. This ensures health and direct sourcing, along with transparency with customers.
- Preparation: How Do We Make It Vegetarian?
- We incorporate plant-based protein, grains, and vegetables into all of our meals, replacing and mimicking meat. This increases body health and makes our food safe for vegetarians.
- We use legumes, nuts, seed, tofu or tempeh, grains, dairy products, and eggs as our protein replacements in our meals.
- Spices are used to make it more flavorful, just like with non-vegetarian food.
- Our veggies are prepped different ways (stir-fried, roasted, etc.) to give more diversity and flavor to them! We firmly believe that vegetables can be made delicious to all.
- Sustainability: Why Go Green?
- 1/4 of greenhouse gases come from animal agriculture! By using protein replacements such as vegetables, animal agriculture lessens, which results in less greenhouse gases and pollution, effectively helping our planet's environment.
- While animals take up a lot of space just to not result in much food, plants take up less space and result in a lot more food! It lowers land usage and increases production.
- While it may seem shocking, animals use more water than plants do! By using plant-based food, we reduce water consumption.
- By using plants more often, we reduce the demand for animal agriculture, a major driver for things that kill the environment (deforestation, habitat loss, etc.). With reduced animal agriculture, biodiversity is increased.
- This lessened demand also improves animal welfare. The meat industry is cruel with the animals, breeding and killing them solely for food. Without such a high demand, there won't be as many animals bred just for food production.
- We also depend on the following farming methods to keep sourcing sustainable:
- Crop Rotation: growing nitrogen-fixing crops, alongside others, to improve soil health and reduce needs for synthetic fertilizers.
- Veganic/Organic Farming: form of farming that avoids using animal products/byproducts, enriching soil and improving animal welfare
- Lack of Harmful Synthetics: reducing the use of herbicides/pesticides and synthetic chemicals, which can harm a multitude of things, such as plant growth, reproduction, biodiversity, and aquatic ecosystems, either through direct application or runoff
